You’ll be happier with 2.6.2 than 2.6.1, as we fixed a couple of bothersome bugs. As for whether it’s better than 2.4 seems to be a matter of taste. Fortunately, if it’s not to yours you can go back, though you might prefer to go to 2.4.15, the final 2.4 release.

You can simply copy your account files from your old system to your new one. If you have custom reports or would like to bring your preferences over, copy the .gnucash directory from the home directory in your old system to the same place in the new one.
