   I think you might find the same issue if you run other applications,
   gedit for example.  I think it is an ssh issue as I see it when I ssh
   from Ubuntu 12.04 (with gedit and gnucash), but when I do it from an
   Ubuntu 14.04 machine I do not see it, which I guess means it has been
   fixed on 14.04.

Yes!  I don't have gedit installed, but I ran gimp remotely and it had
the same issue.  Its good to know you see it working fine in 14.04.
