Cannot save settings/preferences

I haven't posted this before on this or any other message board. I
apologize for posting a second request for the same info. I had searched
the GnuCash message boards for an answer to the problem, and didn't find
any suggestions. It looked like one other person had posted a similar
complaint, but didn't have any answers; their post, while posted in June or
July, was still "not accepted by the mail list. If you could give me a url
for the conversation with 'busyteach' I'd appreciate it; I'd be happy to
run through the list of suggestions and see if one works in my case.

Thanks.
Carlos
