GnuCash Unable to Import Mutliple Currencies

Such a script cannot be written in the first place because the QIF file
does not have the currency information at all. How will the entries be
separated?
Geert, you are right that it is up to GoA to export multiple QIF files per
currency. He has filed an issue for this in the bug tracker.

GoA started out exporting with the OFX format, but that turned out not to
support multiple splits and was also a hassle to import into GnuCash
desktop.
QIF was better in both regards, and therefore was implemented. In a sense,
the lesser of two evils. :)
