Being based in Switzerland, I also have dot-separated dates in bank statements. I never noticed your problem in my csv-imports, but I guess this could be related to your locales. I guess gnucash tries to parse dates according to those. Maybe try:

> LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8 gnucash

if you have non-german locales.
