Agreed, GNU Cash runs way better under Linux although the Windows version
(2.6.5) is a lot better now.

If you have pulled GNU Cash down using the software manager it will most
likely be an older version supplied by Ubuntu. It maybe okay but many users
including myself experienced shut down problems (thread is available on
here).

The latest version is available at Getdeb but it fails to install all of the
dependencies subsequently becoming unstable. It will not uninstall either
using all of the regular terminal commands.

There as a move to update the repositories based on the known bug, but not
sure how that went.

If you are new to Linux have a look at the planets and stars app, forgot the
actual names but very impressive.
