The most important thing to remember is that the description column will
automatically adjust to fill the width available when it's right edge is
dragged to the left or when the other columns do not fill the available
width. If other columns add up to more than the available width with
some default width for the description, then a horizontal scroll bar
appears. Double clicking a column header will make it go to a width that
should display all text in the window. If you are using a version 2.5.x
or newer, these settings should be remembered individually for each
register.
So I suggest double clicking each column header first, then manually
adjusting the Account column width to strike a balance against the
description column width, and lastly dragging the description width to
the left to make the horizontal scroll bar disappear.
