No, the original question was how to enter all those characters in Gtk-driven apps like GnuCash when running windows. Apparently the old DOS trick of entering the character code on the numeric keypad while holding down the Alt key doesn't work.

I suggest that the OP take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_input#In_X11_.28Linux_and_other_Unix_variants.29.
