It looks to me like Larry is trying to do an export / import round trip
starting from the wrong place.

Larry: you'd do better using one of the transaction type reports and
then copying and pasting into a spreadsheet (or emacs if you insist).

You're looking for one transaction per line not

transaction
        split1
        split2

when you get to the import point.

Further, csv isn't the best format for import, I find qif encompasses
more of the nature of a transaction.
