Importing Customer data via csv file

Having a problem importing customer data. I have data in a excel spreadsheet that I have formatted per 18.2 of help manual. ie, a leading space in each field and one line per customer. When I import the first customer appears correct but from then on it is garbage with data taken from various lines of input.

I am using a mac.

Any thoughts?
