I am unsure what you are wanting.

Could  possibly you want an "Income Statement" (P&L) but only for some 
subset of the  income and expense accounts? For example, there was an 
"event" that had both income and expenses and you want a report showing 
JUST those accounts and the profit or loss for the event? (you CAN 
select just some accounts)

Or of you really do mean filtering TRANSACTIONS out of some ledger 
account, explain what you might want that for (why you don't recognize 
that as failure to define the COA correctly with some of the 
transactions now in an account in a child of the account and the others 
in a different child.

Or if something else, explain what.
