Sent to list also as I forgot to re[ply all :-)

This is how I enter a deposit split....

Go to Cheque account register in basic ledger view, enter the date, tab to
Memo & enter description, tab across to credit column and enter amount i.e.
$100 - then click split, don't click tab, don't click enter just click
split icon at top of screen. This opens up the split into 3 lines, the
header with description and amount, lne 2 the total amount of the deposit
and line 3 with the toal amount in the debit column. Tab down to line 3
and enter a description in the memo column, tab across to the account
column and select the relevant account, tab into the amount column and
adjust the amount. Then tab out of the amount column and a new line will be
added automatically with the balance left. Then tab onto this next line
and repeat - when you've entered all your splits hot enter to commit the
complete transaction.
