Reusing account structure in a new data file

I feel like I'm missing something obvious ...

I have a structure of accounts and hierarchies, worked out a year or so
ago, in a data file with incomplete year-old data.

Now I want to start a new data file, with new opening balances and new
transactions, but reusing that already-built account structure.

I can't see how to do this and would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.
