I would expect so, but it doesn't. Have a look here. Nautilus on the
left and GC on the right. The previous image is from Evolution contacts.
Maybe something with my theme? Although I just change a few things in
Ambiance.

About the update, I tried 2.6.9, but something didn't work. I think it
has to do with minimum requirements. This is an old laptop, Toshiba
Satellite A200, factory status.
I'll try to look for 2.6.4. But it's not the green/yellow lines that
bother my eyes. It' all the brightness around.  This is a picture of
this message, and how I would like to see GC (more or less):
