When I try to reimport them I keep getting errors regarding the format of the data, I really need to import the exported information into the reloaded GNU cash otherwise I will need to go through every transaction in the exported CSV file and put them back in manually, a task that I would not relish

Assuming you kept a backup of the accounts .gnucash file (or whatever
you called your accounts file when you saved it) on CD or external USB
drive or whatever then all you need to do is to open that on the new
system and use Save As to save it back on the restored computer.

If you did not have a backup of that file then let this be a warning
to all here, make sure you have a backup of all important data that
you have. Your machine or disc may go up in smoke (literally or
metaphorically) at any time. I make monthly backup of everything
important to CD. Every few months I take one to an offsite location
(in case of fire at my home), and also I keep a copy in the cloud
using a service similar to Dropbox. The thought of loosing years
worth of information is not something I want to risk.
