How to show the net of two accounts?

Depends on what you mean (see in a report, seeing the account tree, 
etc.) and whether those are on the same side of the ledger or opposite 
sides (both normal debit balance, both normal credit balance, or.... 
opposite sides).

Tell us what you are looking for in more detail.

Note that this sort of thing affects people like myself. The CoA is set 
up to group accounts (and show group totals) as would be informative to 
the Board of Directors, but might need to total a different way to 
please the Feds << thus each event/activity might have postage costs, 
but "postage" is a 990/990-EZ line item >> The latter needed only once a 
year so the CoA is set up for the more frequent Treasurer's report at 
board meetings and then I can do  special report listing just the 
postage related costs for the IRS << non-profits don;t pay taxes but 
they still must file >>
