Transaction report with subtotals only, not individual transactions?

Hi, GnuCash folks:

I would like to make a variation on a Transaction Report, where I get 
subtotals for all transactions in a period, but I don't get the 
individual transactions.

I don't see an option in the options dialogue for a Transaction Report 
to suppress the individual transactions. I can uncheck options in the 
Display tab to suppress the date, memo, description, etc, but not the 
amount of the transaction.

The Budget report seems to display per-account subtotals, but it only 
works if I define a budget. I don't have a budget created, and I don't 
want to display the budgeted amount.

How can I get a Transaction Report of per-account subtotals in GnuCash? 
I'm using GnuCash 2.6.11-1 on Mac OS X 10.10.
