I am going to suggest an alternative (to indicate that "fixing" the
problem need not directly involve working from within gnucash)
a) Create a directory (file folder) appropriately named and in an
appropriate position in your data hierarchy. For example, "documents"
might be good place. But you might want a bit more structure. So let's
say "financial records" and within that create directories (file
folders) "books" and "reports" (a place you can store exported reports,
etc. so you will JUST have the books and logs in the "books" directory
making it easy for you to erase excess old logs).
b) Move the books and logs/backups to the new "books" directory. But a
word to the wise about the proper handling of important data. COPY them
there, and only after confirming that they arrived OK, delete from the
desktop. Yes an extra step, but one that someday might save your behind.
c) Open gnucash. It will NOT be able to find the books since in a new
location. Use the file/open to specify what you want opened. After you
have done this once, will be at the top of your "last opened" list.
