Beginners question, confused between real bank accounts and gnucash accounts

Hi Nicolas.

Is the business a separate legal entity? (it may make a difference, depending
on your local rules & regs - you may not actually be paying "salary", for
example)

Without getting into the whys & wherefores, and using the accounts you
describe, I think you need a 4 way split transaction. Effectively, the
business should show an expense and your personal books show income..

If you had 2 files, it would probably be obvious how each side would record the
transaction, but you need to "merge" the business view and personal view into
a single transaction (you may need other splits for withholding taxes etc)

(viewed from personal bank acc)
Bank Personal 100 -
Business:Expenses:Salaries 100 -
Bank:Company - 100
Personal:Income:Salary - 100

(Think that I've got the columns the right way round, but I can never remember
fir sure without looking in GC)

HTH,
Maf.
