I don't think anything has been decided.  Besides, if you ask 5 people you'll get 10 answers.

The biggest issue I see with python is that it's very heavy weight.  I'd rather see a much lighter tool used.

Considering that you’re minimizin/eliminating the need for Scheme
withing GnuCash code, just wonder if there is at least some rough idea
whether in the future that will be done via Python or nothing is decided
in regard yet?
