John,

It seems to me that not mentioning Perl at all is problematic. How is Perl different from discussing other such packages, such as Python, which is optional but necessary for certain features? Or does the WIndows script handle all the Perl installation automatically? If so, then this section could just read: 

Microsoft Windows: Close GnuCash. Run Install Online Price Retrieval in the GnuCash “Start” menu entry.
