Date ranges on General Reports/General Journal?

I don't know the answer to your question about why the General Journal
cannot be date limited ... it seems like an oversight to me, and perhaps
someone (maybe me?) will eventually correct it.

I do, however, have two suggestions for you to work around the problem.

1) Open the General Journal report, and Export. It will save as an HTML
file. Open that HTML file in Excel or a similar editor, and delete the rows
which are outside your date range. I can verify that this worked for me,
with Excel 2016. It took a few minutes because the file size was large, but
eventually it completed.

2) Save your GnuCash file as SQL and query the database. I haven't tried
this myself but I understand from what others have written that this is a
nice, relatively easy way to get data out of your GnuCash file. Writing the
SQL query is almost certainly easier than patching the Scheme in which the
reports are written. I'm not familiar enough with this method to help you,
but others on this list are SQL masters and might be able to help you.

Method 2) is the direction in which GnuCash is moving, which may explain
why so many of the current reports are not well maintained: they will soon
be obsolete anyway.
