All accounts coming up zero

New user running ver 2.6.14 on Windows 7 Pro. No problem for about 2 months,
then one day all accounts should up with all zeros. I discovered the prime
parent accounts were set as placeholders. I took the chk mark out of the
Placeholders box. The accounts were repopulated with the correct numbers.
Problem fixed, I thought.

But all accounts returned to zeros again without my making any entries. The
chk mark was in the Placeholder box again.  Once again I removed it. But
this time it did not fix it. I still got all zeros. However, the accounts
are all there, just the data is missing.   What can I do??
