On my Mac, for example, trying to “upgrade Finance::Quote” from a CPAN shell tells me that F::Q is up to date, even though it is at 1.38. Moreover, if I export the variable at a terminal prompt, it seems to go away upon exit. I imagine I am not the only Mac user challenged by these points, and I don’t know what Windows users have to do at all. Some guidance would be greatly helpful!
CPAN will still tell you 1.38 is the latest version. 1.40 will only
appear as latest version once CPAN has indexed the content. For
experienced users it is possible to grab the .tar.gz file from
sourceforge and do the usual install procedure from the archive. As
CPAN usually indexes the files in a few hours, you'd probably best wait
for it to be indexed and use your usual install method as you tried.
Please note that while AlphaVantage does appear to offer quite a bunch
of quotes, it doesn't seem to support funds nor currencies.
I hope someone will come up with one or more sites offering those info
so I can work on that part too. However, my freetime is sparse and I
already took some time I should have put on real world work. So more
coding might take more time to happen...
