It works but only without adding "gnc-fq-dump alphavantage CSCO ».
I don’t understand the sentence "you must set it as a shell environment variable when using gnc-fq-helper or gnc-fq-dump. ».
maybe I am over asking ?
Thanks anyway for the help

Then I think you need to use Alphavantage.  Take a look at the docs and the how to has been documented there.   Or take a look at the archives over the last few weeks.  Basic approach is to get a free API key from Alphavantage.co.  Set an environment variable to that key.  How to do this depends on your OS.  Lastly, change your online quote provider to other/Alphavantage.

Thanks. It worked for securities but not for currencies.

In the security editor, edit the security and you can choose where to get the quotes from online. Select Yahoo_json.

Let us know if it works for you.

Best wishes,

Give Yahoo_JSON a shot.  It's working for me and might be easier than setting up the Alphavantage API key (which also works well.)

But perhaps
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Why_doesn.27t_online_quoting_work.3F
is faster to read.
