bad and corrupt data

1) Yes on purpose
2) Yes, MySQL is installed and is accessible from other software
3) tried both for no avail
4) Yes - used Workbench to access other data

What worries me is that, as another attempt, i Installed an older version,
2.6.14 and it worked. Can it be a bug in 2.6.17?
