I'm using 2.6.12 on an Lunbuntu (Unbuntu for all practical purposes) and 
recently installed sqlite to use it with that feature. I did have to 
install an additional package for it to "see" the sqlite3 backend, 
though: libdbi-dbd-sqlite. After that, worked very well.
