[GNC] Downloaded transactions screen

I'm using a 2018 Google Pixel Chromebook, running GnuCash Version: 3.2
Build ID: 3.2+ (2018-06-24) under Linux.

Not really expecting anyone to have ideas, but will toss this out there.

Not consistently, but periodically when I do an online download of
transactions, and that box comes up that gives you the opportunity to mark
whether it's a new transaction, a current one, etc. (the one before going on
to the reconcile screen), I'm *unable to check any of the boxes, literally*. 
Whenever this happens, I notice ALL of the transactions listed appear in red
(eg new, although they aren't, which is why I need to check the appropriate
box).  Of course I can manually reconcile when this happens and do, but just
wondered if anyone had ideas why this happens from time to time...
