[GNC] Amounts not showing in accounts

I had a PC failure and had to reload GnuCash. That done, when I enter $$ amounts into the General Journal, they do not show up in the account assigned. After I re-loaded GnuCash, I see all the history but only the amounts do not transfer top the account. I suspect it is a setup issue but can not see it in ‘Preferences’.
