[GNC] Could not read the contents of GnuCash: Error opening directory '[path name here]': Permission denied

Hi David,

You probably haven't seen my last response yet. It's working fine now.
But I'm curious why the Ubuntu Software Center has both "gnucash-jz" and
"GnuCash." The second of these is the one that works.
Be Well,

Scott

Is GnuCash installed from apt or the Software manager or is it a
flatpak orsnap installation?. The latter have had some problems with having access
tothe system from within the flatpak environment which you will
find in therecent (August-November 18) archives.

If all else fails you could download and build v 3.3. The notes
in the wikifor building on Linux are fairly complete at the moment.
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Building_On_Linux. The main Linux notes wererewritten and tested on Linux Mint 19/Ubuntu 18.04. Once all the
dependencies are installed it is generally fairly easy to build.
There is ascript attached which will install the development tools and
dependecies forV3.3. gnucash-development-depndency-setup.sh
<http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/file/t375329/gnucash-development-depndency-setup.sh>. You will have to enter your password to grant it sudo privileges and
answer "y" or yes to any questions it throws up. I used it to
setup to buildGnuCash on Linux Mint 19 yesterday and it worked like a charm.
Much easierthan copying and pasting commands from the wiki.
