[GNC] Chart of Accounts sort order in v3.2 - Help

Hi David,

Thank you once again for your help with this.

Using your link, I have downloaded GnuCash v2.6.6, sorted the Accounts in the original order and added in the  Account Code data.  The EDIT – Renumber sub accounts menu option does add sequential numbers to the sub accounts, but based on the alphabetic order instead of the original order, so I had to adjust these.  It really didn’t take very long and I am all set up now for version 3.2.

Is this a bug or has the functionality been changed deliberately?  Also, is it possible to download a version of GnuCash where the accounts can be listed in the original order.

I believe that there is a feature that will auto number your accounts for you; you might downgrade to 2.6.6, get the sort you want, run that feature to get your accounts numbered in your preferred order, and then upgrade. Your accounts can then be sorted by ACCTNum.

I'd suggest using account codes to set your account order, and then add that column to your COA and support on it.

Please would you let me know if it's possible to sort and display the Accounts in the order in which they were originally entered.  Alternatively, is it possible to download a version of GnuCash where this is possible?
