Laurel,

If you haven't tried it already, Geert's strategy of deleting the complete
folder C:/Program Files(X86)/guncash before doing a reinstall from a fresh
download from the GnuCash website (with the antivirus turned off while doing
the download and install) is going to be worth a try as that will remove all
traces of any program files associated with the previous install. You will
need to have or invoke administrator privileges to do this however. Geert
(along with John Ralls and Derek Atkins) is one of the main GnuCash
developers so their advice is usually based on a farmore intimate knowledge
of GnuCash than most of us have.

It may help if you can feedback here what happens when you try any of the
suggested approaches. It is a bit tedious but we cannot see what is
happening on your computer including any printout of what comes up on the
screen during the install. A screen capture program can be useful to record
this. Alt- PrtScn will capture the active window and PrtScn alone will
capture the whole screen to the clipboard in WIndows. You can then post the
clipboard into a file and then upload the file by attaching it to your email
(or if you are using Nabble the More Button will give you an upload button
to attach the file).
