Not an artifact/bug. Consider were you doing it the old fashioned way 
pen and ink on paper. What do you think would be different?

Describe what you WANT to see in terms of this "regular interest" and 
"bonus interest". You want to see them as separate? You don't want to 
see them as separate?  You aren't making your PROBLEM clear.
