[GNC] how to handle temporary desk checks

I never encountered this in any of my accounting practice before.  My 
wife's personal business ran out of checks, so until the new ones 
arrived all of the banks desk checks are numbered 1111.  Check number 
1111 already exists as a valid check number some years ago.

Should all of the temporary numbered check numbers be entered as 1111 or 
1111a, 1111b, etc in GNC?
