[GNC] GnuCash very slow to start up and quit

I guess it must be just the size. I too only have a year of data - it's for a money transfer business, so there are lots of transactions every day. The start up and quit time shouldn't be this long - I/O will be a second at most, and the fact that I see GnuCash is CPU bound suggests there is something a little inefficient going on in the bowels of the code.

I'm going to throw more powerful hardware at the problem to start with. If I get sufficiently annoyed, I might delve into the source code :-).
