Hi Steve,

The UID is just a numeric string used to uniquely identify you. That’s why you need to use a generator to get one but it doesn’t come from your bank, etc. 

Which part are you confused about on the UUID instructions? The Wiki’s General Info section at the top links to a site that generates UUIDs for you. That will need to be copied and pasted into GnuCash.
