There aren't changes to the matcher but Geert went through the CSV importer bugs in January and fixed a bunch of them.
Tools>import Map Editor that Adrien suggested in his reply to your original post will show you the recorded tokens and what accounts they indicate.
You can get more logging info by running GnuCash from Terminal with --log gnc.import=debug. The output is written to the trace file, which you can change by adding --logto=stderr to send it to the console or --logto=/some/path to send it to a more convenient file.
