[GNC] Claims file is locked; stalls when I delete lck file

It helps to understand about the LCK file.

When GnuCash starts, it checks for the LCK file; if it is present, you get
the warning you noted.

If it is not present, it creates the file and then opens your data file.
When you shut down GnuCash, it closes your data file and then deletes the
LCK file.

So, if you keep seeing the error about the LCK file, it probably means that
your GnuCash is crashing (I think this is what you mean by "stalls").

The "Open Anyway" pretends like the LCK file was not there. If you only
access GnuCash from one computer, this should be a pretty safe option. The
"Read Only" option won't write out any data.

file. If you have backups of your data file, can you open an older one?

I agree with the other post -- what were you running before 5.10?
