Hi, Liz. I'm running Version: 5.12, Build ID: Flathub 5.12-1 ... and there
was a problem a few releases ago with Scheduled Transactions (AKA "SX")....
looking for my notes... no... it was version 5.5 where some new features
introduced some bugs in SX, but those are working fine now.
Are you using a desktop environment other than Gnome? I'm running KDE
(Kubuntu 25.04) on one of my systems and the other is running Gnome (Ubuntu
24.04).
I have noticed that sometimes the menu that SHOULD pop-up in the spot I
click on the SX Status in the Since Last Run window actually pops up
somewhere else on the screen. I have noticed that happening more frequently
on KDE. Usually I can click a few times and the errant pop-up will show up
in a good spot and then I might also have to use the mouse scroll wheel or
laptop touchpad to redraw the options, and then I can click the choice I
want.
ALSO these SX prompts only appear on the Since Last Run dialog if the
scheduled transactions have the tick-boxes "Enabled," "Remind in Advance,"
and (maybe?) NOT "Created Automatically." (I'm not completely sure on that
last option as I rarely use it.)
Finally, as you can imagine, the reminders won't appear if your SX
transactions are not yet in the "date window," such as you have the
transaction set to go off September 1st, but you don't have Remind in
Advance set enough days to include the current date in August. If you have
a transaction set to remind 7 days in advance, you might increase it to 12
to ensure you see the reminder on the Since Last Run window. Note the Since
Last Run (dialog? druid?) will update in "real time" as you modify the SX
definitions, but the displayed list might not sort the way you expect.
P.S.: I have used Scheduled Transactions in GnuCash for a long time (I just
searched and found a bugzilla enhancement request to SX I filed in 2010) so
I hope you can get your installation debugged and you can start using them.
