Did you download the Apple Silicon version (Gnucash-Arm-5.10-1) or the Intel version (Gnucash-Intel-5.10-1)?

Chris,
Upgrade Gnucash to 5.9-2 or 5.10-1. There is a known problem with 5.8 and MacOS 15, definitely with Apple Chips. I am not sure if it affects Intel chips, but it probably does.
Best wishes,

Thank you for giving us the details on your GnuCash version and your OS. That is helpful.
What do you observe? What specific actions do you take to try to open your files? What do you observe happening? What do you expect to happen?
Do you know where on your Macintosh storage those files are? Could you, for example, find them so that you can list the in a Finder window? Can you do a Get Info on those files, to see their size and modification date?
Answers to these questions might be illuminating.
Best regards,
