[GNC] Online Quotes failures in flatpak

I have already given up on both the snap and the flatpak versions of
Firefox and switched to a native deb installation, which is working
better for me.
I am therefor tempted to scrap the flatpak version of GC in favor of a
native installation. My distro's repository:
http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble/universe amd64 Package
offers me
Version: 1:5.5-1.2build1
but I can't make sense of the version numbering.
Is this also version 5.12?
If so, can I expect online quote retrieval to work in this version?
