This bug has been intermittent over several versions of Ubuntu and several
versions of GnuCash.

Hardware: very old Dell XPS13 9333
O/S: Linux Ubuntu 25.04
GnuCash: v5.12 (2025-06-28) locally compiled from git repository.

Originally reported March 12, 2024.

Updated October 18, 2024 and chased a rabbit hole through December 16 when
compiled with ASAN.

Problem appeared to be fixed until the event on July 20, 2025.

It may be another year before it bites again. I've been compiling with
DEBUG turned on trying to get a good stack dump for John. With some items
he had me add to my system yesterday, we might have enough now for him to
nail down what is happening.

If not, then we're set up for the next time it happens. Though it was a
shock to see GnC just disappear. Almost forgot that I needed to get a back
trace from the core dump.
