GnuCash Pocket is not affiliated in any way with the desktop app, so your first stop should be the app's developer. That person should be able to guide you.
Regarding Stan's question about versions, the app, being completely separate from this project, has a separate numbering. Your problem likely doesn't arise from mismatched versions, but rather mismatched data.
I'm perhaps dense, but can you explain how you have just installed GnuCash Pocket but somehow have ten years' data in it?
Second, waiting until you have ten years of data before checking to see if you are able to import is not an advised practice. Since you're in the situation, it might be good to try getting a very small set of data to import, so that you can begin to figure out where the hiccups are happening. Perhaps you could export to a more generic format (csv, e.g.) and test with that.
