[GNC] computer change and backup

Here are some considerations:
1) It would be MUCH better to have you data file be in a common location,
such (as has been suggested) cloud storage. You could also use a USB drive
(or some other external drive that can be moved from one computer to
another). I store my data file on a NAS (Network Attached Storage).
2) If you are determined to copy the file, you have to make sure you know
which file has the latest data. All it takes is one time forgetting to
copy, and then you'll have differing data on the two computers.
3) The financial data is stored in one file; it is named
<something>.gnucash -- you choose the <something>, so no one can tell you
what you are calling your file. By the way, there are no compatibility
issues between platforms; I use the same data file on Windows 10, iMac, and
Linux, and I've never had problems.
4) Having said that, your settings for GnuCash are stored elsewhere, and
any reports you have created are stored in another location. You may need
to copy your reports to the other computer as well if you will want them.
(I have always just re-set my preferences and re-created reports I want,
but I wanted to mention this part)
