I use syncthing (on Linux, but it's available for Windows too) to keep
my laptop and desktop gnucash installations in sync with each other.
It works prefectly, I've never had any issues and whichever system I
log into my GnuCash is up to date with changes I have done on either
system.
Obviously you have to remember not to try and do things on both
systems at the same time! You should always exit GnuCash tidily when
you finish a session. I use sqlite for GnuCash's data which I think
is probably safer if moving files back and forth.
Here is the list of files I see which hold my GnuCash data and get
copied between my laptop and desktop:-
building2025.gnucash
general2025.gnucash.20250323095702.log
building2025.gnucash.20250323094714.gnucash
general2025.gnucash.20250324170258.log
general2025.gnucash
general2025.gnucash.20250324170844.log
general2025.gnucash.20250323095439.log
general2025.gnucash.20250806174846.log
There are two sets of accounts files 'general' and 'building'.
The names may well be a bit different on Windows.
