installed 5.12. file opened. yay!
when moved to applications it just says gnucash no version in file name. can i change that so i know at a glance what version it is? thanks.
more info. gnucash sw installed is all for intel chips. new laptop is an M4. i’m assuming this might be the problem?

i’m still stumped.
does it make sense to simply install new sw version?
current version that’s not opening is 5.3-1. but i looked online and there’s no gnucash for mac at all in app store and at the gnucash download page it shows 5.12 as the latest stable version.
questions:
should i install 5.12?
should i uninstall 5.3-1?
what other steps should i take to do this new install correctly? i also have 4.12 installed.
thank you!!!
