Hi to Trevor, Fred, Richard.
I do appreciate the very rapid responses guiding me to install updated GNU versions. So it looks like I have a project for tomorrow.
As you picked up, I had typo error referring to version 5.21 instead of 5.12.
Currently I'm running Windows 10, on a 10 year old (partitioned) Apple MacPro 13 inch laptop.
I've been using GNU Cash since 2022, switching from an earlier perpetual licensed edition of Sage Accounts - which ceased to be supported - and Sage moved their software packages to a subscription basis only.
As my basic accounting needs are very straightforward nowadays (in retirement), just records of incomes and expenses, tabulated to facilitate easy compliance with tax returns, I was introduced to GNU by a friend, as a viable alternative to a subscription package. So Far so Good!!!
So, once I find my way thru upgrading GNU on this older MacPro, the plan is that it is time to upgrade the laptop to a new machine running a Windows11 operating system, and with GNU installed on it.
Thanks for the welcome advice.
Chris

That doesn't seem right.
I seem to recall that there were some issues with some of the mid 5.x releases on Windows (I don't recall specifically), so you might try upgrading to 5.12 to see whether that fixes the problem.
If the problem persists, you'll probably be asked to check for a crash report (see the wiki for instructions on how to find those and submit them) to try and mail down what could be causing the crash.
