[GNC] Reverting to an Earlier Configuration

Gnucash is great at allowing one to revert back to the way the books 
were an hour or a day ago.

But just as often I want to revert to the way I had my configuration a 
few minutes ago. Today, for example, I realized that neither the close 
button on the toolbar nor File > Close on the menu close the open books. 
Instead they close the window with focus, which unhappily closed two 
carefully constructed reports. I tried restoring the recent backup, but 
the reports are still gone.

Is there any feature that allows a rollback of the current window, tab, 
and report settings so I can revert?
