I don't think you have given us enough detail for us to help you.

Describe in more detail the exact steps leading up to the crash and 
specific details of the crash, any error messages, etc.  Where do you 
end up after the crash?  What happens when you start gnucash after the 
crash?  The more you provide us the more likely it is you'll get help.
