Joe,
Thanks for getting back to the list on what the real solution (and
problem) was.
What is your monitor setup?
There have been some issues with window placement on multi-monitor
systems here and there. If this is causing that window to hide itself,
the devs would probably want to know as someone else is going to have
the same problem.
MS systems have a seemingly random habit of giving focus to, but hiding
such windows on installs and upgrades of various software. I've seen it
happen with single-monitor setups too. I was never able to reproduce it
though to dig further. Usually, that situation forces me to explicitly
raise the window via the taskbar, as it having focus, though not
immediately visible, prevents me from doing anything else. I've yet to
encounter your case where I needed to exit an installer and could go
about my day without doing so.
